You can even select up to 20 destinations in advance to plan out where you need to go.

Great picture quality is a guarantee, thanks to the integrated ambient light sensor, which adjusts color and contrast for easy night viewing. In case of an emergency, you'll never have to worry about being stranded; just one touch displays your exact location so you can quickly advise roadside assistance or emergency services.

The RoadMate 2000 also comes with a high-impact plastic case that protects against marks and scratches while the built-in battery delivers continuous use for up to three hours. 1. It does what is supposed to do, get you from point a to point b.
2. Maps on almost all units are static (point in time) not dynamic. If you want a unit that updates map's real time look to spend 2X to 3X more.
3. If you want a unit that speaks the street's look to spend 2X more.
4. All GPS units can lose a signal, price does not matter.
5. All units have a display that can break.
6. Few are waterproof (garmin has one for motorcycles)
7. Advance warining of when to turn is naturally speed dependent, these things help you with directions, not how to drive. You need to have some sense of where you are going,(sorry that is true).
8. Look at little things like how it plugs into the AC and mounting, some are a bit bulky.
9. Look at battery life if you plan on puting it in your pocket and using it outside the car. Also lighter and compact units are more expensive.
10. The more features you want the more it will cost. Figure out what you will be using it for 90% of the time.
11. Prices are droping 30 to 40% a year.
12. I am a dummy and have learned thru experience, hope this helps
Excellent for the price

I've had this for about 3 months and it's gotten me to places I never knew existed. I lasts a while without a charge and the menu is easy to learn and now that there is a manual that you can download it does make it easier to setup trips, etc. Some of the problems I've run into are: 1. The map is a little out of date (I'm guessing 2-5 years)and some of the points of interest take me to places that no longer exist. 2. I have to reset the device when I plug in the power cord because it stops routing. The nice thing is that it usually resumes right where it left off. 3. In one instance it had me driving the opposite direction for about a mile before it rerouted and asked me to "make a legal u-turn". None of these problems would prevent me from purchasing this device again although I might consider getting the next model up as it already has the added features including maps that this model doesn't have. To add maps to this device costs $150 each which I consider to be extreme.
WHAT A GREAT TOOL TO FIND YOUR WAY AROUND

When I bought this for my husband for Christmas, I didn't know what to expect. But when we first tried it on our first car trip, it was amazing that it "holds your hand" through the entire trip. And if if you make a wrong turn, no problem, it will reconfigure the route for you and put you back on track, without you having to do anything. It also knows exactly where YOU are and you can see upcoming bends in the roads and upcoming exits on highways.

The only thing I found odd was just for laughs I put in my work address, which is only 10 minutes away from my house and even as I was pulling up to the door, it was telling me to make a U-Turn when possible. Besides from that, I still love it because I can find my way now around different cities VERY easily!! Buy this if you take a lot of road trip or when visiting people where you've never been. Magellan will take you to their front door and actually announce when you've arrived. It talks to you.
Great help for the money

I love my Magellan RoadMate 2000. It is certainly worth the nominal cost to have the assurance of finding my way through unfamiliar areas of the city. I like the fact that it is easy to use and is small so that I can carry it in my purse.
