The history of GPS technology
With GPS devices now in millions of cars, mobile phones and bags all over the country, it is difficult to imagine that only ten years, technology has been used almost exclusively by large companies and the armed forces. But time has moved quickly to the global positioning systems, which is logical, since the story of the history of GPS 'begins with a measurement of time.
All begins with Time
GPS technology exists today, because scientists have sought a way to measure time more accurately had never been measured before. And so they developed the atomic clock is a device that super-precise measurement of time and a billionth of a second.
But the atomic clock, it was not created to retain scientists to be late for dinner. They used precision clock to test the theory of relativity of Einstein, as it relates to time and space.
Using Atomic clocks measure time and space
With these atomic clocks, scientists and engineers have discovered that there were slight differences in the weather around the world. They started heading clocks around the world, Mount Everest for the Gobi desert and looked a little different over time, everywhere. This information helped to confirm Einstein's position in the universe and will soon become a key technology satellite.
Sputnik and the creation of a military GPS
When the Russians launched Sputnik in 1950, scientists quickly learned that the satellite could be used to track the location on the ground by beaming a signal to the satellite - and an answer on Earth. As this message traveled to determine the location of the satellite from a point on the planet.
The U. S. Navy initiated the launching of satellites and their use in military actions that are essential to help troops battle in the appropriate locations and to assist large vessels around the world.
After some time, the naval engineers realized that satellites are placed in positions with relatively very precise orbit around Earth, to create a clear picture of our planet - and that this image "could be used to map the points individuals throughout the world with astonishing accuracy.
The complete system
In 1993, everything is gone. The U. S. Navy launched on 24 of 24 carefully placed satellites in orbit - and the Global Positioning System was born. The satellites are arranged so that now anyone with a cheap GPS device can locate their position (or otherwise) anywhere on the planet. And to think it all started with Einstein and a group of scientists who wanted to find the final measure of time.
Today, GPS devices are a useful tool for many Americans. Individuals Technology has become very convenient and allows for appropriate guidance to their situation, while using a minimal amount of gas or time. And if someone had told you twenty years ago that GPS technology could be a gift "Christmas hot, chances are you've given them the time of day.
